Prometheus Desmotes

A work condemned for paganism and a broken contract, driven by the personal ambitions of the "gods."

What began as a study of beauty evolved into a deeper connection with the island’s raw energy. Volcanic rocks, once forged by fire, were collected and transformed into sculptures with the help of Socotris especially children whose curiosity and spirit fed the growing flame.

Two works were meant for Socotra University, but before their placement, power intervened. A self-serving figure accused the sculptures of paganism, burying them under lies and broken deals.

The works were for Socotra, to keep its flame alive.
But their fate mirrors a larger truth: how power treats art, and worse, how it treats places like Socotra, forgotten yet burning.
